Excited About Photography Again

There is a lot of chatter online about Fujifilm and Ricoh adding recipe options so that you can get that “post-filter” look right from the camera. I absolutely love this, as my biggest dislike about photography has always been the hours I would spend post-editing.

I did some digging and found that my Canon RP can do something very close — similar, but not as detailed — as what the newer Fuji and Ricoh cameras can produce.

Here are the three options I came up with. If you want any of these recipes, please let me know!

This first one is (C1) is based after my trips to Yellowstone during the winter. I wanted something more cool toned. I believe this will work great in most conditions, but especially at night and harsh lighting.

Second (C2) is a warmer tone. This comes from a trip we took to North Carolina where I proposed to my wife, Marina Suits at the Biltmore, then went to pick out a Christmas Tree - so of course I had to name the preset “Douglas Fur.” It’s been a go-to for most of my shots (I hope to share more in the future).

Finally (C3), is black and white. I really enjoy shooting B&W on my Canon AE-1 that my grandmother gifted me, so I wanted to keep that Ilfford film look. I think this is pretty close with the soft edges and quick shadows.
