Open Web Decline, Future of Websites

"Several digital publishers and independent website owners have reported experiencing a decline in traffic following changes to Google Search’s algorithm and the rise of AI chatbots."

-- The Verge, Google admits the open web is in ‘rapid decline’

This should really come as no surprise. I can't really tell you how rarely I open a website these days. The only website traffic I really have is via my RSS reader; This includes Podcasts, YouTube, new, etc.

From how I've been seeing this, the internet is coming to me bundled together neatly, rather than me going to the internet per se.

I wonder how rapidly web browsers will just become full AI and how differently uploading to the internet will work. Will we even need websites?
