Weekly Roundup: Week 35, 2025

Grateful

This week brought some incredible news for our family. My wife, Marina, received a new job offer — one that she simply cannot turn down. It’s something we’ve been praying about for a long time, and it feels like a clear, answered prayer. God is good.

Tech

Likely moving on from Apple Notes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support Markdown, and the backlinking options aren’t great. On top of that, you have to use a 3rd party app to export your data in Markdown.

Currently testing Bear and Obsidian. Planning to make a full switch soon.

Still deciding whether to migrate all ~1,000 existing notes or just bring over my “active” ones and start fresh. Might need a debate with ChatGPT on that one.

EDC

  • Picked up a Benchmade Bugout (all black). Found a great deal and couldn’t pass it up. It’ll be my primary carry this fall and winter — perfect fit for my right pocket/jeans. Really excited about it.
  • It’s officially boot season here in the South. Broke out the Justin’s and it feels good to be back in them.

Empire Update

No major shifts this week beyond Marina’s new opportunity. We still feel strongly that Sabbatical and a few other ideas are musts — God continues to nudge us in that direction. The challenge will be carving out the time to bring those projects to life.

Spent the past few days working downtown with the team I’m contracted with. We’ve been stress-testing scenarios and running hypotheticals. Being on-site makes a big difference in addressing issues quickly.

Wrap It Up

Apologies for missing last week’s roundup — Friday was long, and I wasn’t feeling 100%.

For now, we’re planning to enjoy the four-day weekend, rest well, and take it easy. Football season (college) kicks off tomorrow, so pretty excited about this weekend.
